Winona-Ryder
Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to in the media as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by her parents after the town where she grew in. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's father came from a Jewish family Ryder considers herself Jewish. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. Ryder relocated together with her family to Mendocino County California at the age of seven. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder was a voracious read and often spent her time reading books as there was no television. Ryder started taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983 aged 12 years old. In 1986, she got her first major-screen appearance in the film Lucas at just 15 years old. Ryder experienced bullying at high school. Ryder was hopeful that her work as an actress could make a difference. It didn't turn out. But she pushed on with her dreams. In 1988, when Tim Burton released Beetlejuice that was her breakthrough. Ryder continued playing parts that proved successful in a variety of films. In 1993 she received two nominations to win Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence.
